This is my overall favorite pen. I have two of them and they are solid, reliable, hold a lot of ink and are a pleasure to write with. My main choice for journaling.

Fountain Pens
I love writing by hand, I find it very soothing. I have a fair sized fountain pen collection. None of them are very expensive, but they are nice and it makes me happy. It is surprising how different fountain pens are, one to the next. The way the ink flows, how wet or dry, does it start reliably each time, or take some fiddling to get it going, etc. This is my personal experience, and I've even noticed variation between pens of the same type, so my experience may or may not be representative of anyone else's.
Sailor Pro-Colour
Honestly, this pen has had a bad time with me. Its nib got bent right after I got it, and I have done my best to straighten it out (I have had that happen to other pens that worked fine afterward.). But whether from that experience or not, it been hard to keep writing well, it dries out and it's fiddly. It's pretty, but not the best writing exerience for me.
Noodlers Ahab
This is a fun pen, but fiddly. The nib is meant to be adjusted a bit at the beginning. I had to look up instructions on how to do this, but it wasn't too bad. It does need attention though. It dries out if I don't use it often, and I think it leaks a little if I get my fingers too close to the nib. But when I get it going it writes beautifully. So more of a project pen, couldn't…
Muji Fountain Pen
It's nice! And it's a slim pen, so it works better in notebook pen holders than some of these other chunky pens.
Lamy Safari
These are also solid, reliable little friends. Good for toting around on the go because they are sturdy. I have four of them. Three are great, the fourth has never really had the ink flow smoothly so I don't really use it. Can't explain that!
Kaweco Sport
I like this pen for a fine line, and it's a reliable writer. Sometimes I use it in my planner to carry with me because it fits into the pen loop well.
Conklin Minigraph
This pen is tiny. It is very cute, but it does not respond well to neglect. If I write with it every day, it's great. If I only use it here and there, it doesn't want to start. Funny that.
Inks also vary more than you would expect! I don't have a vast collection of inks, because I want a very specific thing: water proof (or at least water resistant, so a drop of tea won't wipe out what I've written), and I like dark green and black colors. My general go-tos are:
Noodlers Heart of Darkness (black)
I feel this is the most reliable ink. If a pen is being a bit hard to start, I use…
